Web design consists of designing and building your website. Depending on your wishes, this can be custom built based on your own graphic design. Unlike in the past when everything was still manually programmed, nowadays Content Management Systems (CMS) are often used. Joomla! and Wordpress are the two main products in CMS world.

With a CMS, a framework is set up based on your wishes and corporate identity. After this you can easily manage your content (articles) yourself.

In order to present your website on the internet, besides a website, you also need a domain name and a place on a web server. A domain name is a 'simple' reference to the internet address of the web server on which your website is installed (hosted).

Hosting for CMS systems must have PHP (script language) and an SQL database in addition to the necessary space.

Mail hosting is often also offered, although this can also be arranged externally via, for example, Microsoft 365.

Websites in any form need maintenance. A website often consists of several parts (components / plugins) to add extra functionality to the site. These plugins are (in the case of Joomla! and Wordpress) made by 'third parties'.

When there are updates of such plugins, they should be installed on your site asap. This is to prevent 'holes' from arising that could be exploited by malicious parties.

Updates for Joomla!, Wordpress and plugins are released on average once a month.

Content Management is basically creating/editing articles on your website. Most websites make a distinction between functional and technical management.

Functional management (writing articles) is often done by the customer himself. Technical management, on the other hand, is almost always outsourced.

If you have sufficient knowledge yourself, it is also possible to do everything yourself.

Security is becoming increasingly important. Websites (if not maintained) can open doors for hackers. For both Joomla! as Wordpress sites, good plugins are available which takes security of the website seriously and close all unnecessary things for malicious people.

In addition, regular backups are the remedy against a hacked website. This process is fully automated at my side, which contains minimal 3 backups of the website stored at different places.
